Blogging rocks. It rocks on LiveJournal, it rocks on WordPress. It’s rocked for five years, and it’ll rock for five more. It is one of the easiest ways for you to make money getting targeted traffic and showing what a good job that you do. It takes a little skill (but not a lot) and it takes a little ability to write (or communicate in general). But, one of the mistakes people make is they assume that they aren’t doing a good job because they aren’t getting buckets of traffic.
But do you need buckets?
Most real estate agents are doing fewer than 10 deals in a year. Most Real Estate Agents think that they need tons. And the truth is, most agents need to get a few people they wouldn’t have. Making posts that come up in the search engines, having a good offer on your blog is all you need to do to get and guarantee a return. If you pull in 50 hits a month, and 3 of ‘em buy, it’s a worthwhile investment…getting obsessed with sheer numbers is a rookie mistake.
What you want to do is build fans. Create a site that has offers and hooks for them to engage you on another level. Engage on social media. Make sure that the people that do come, stay, and I’m not talking about through cheesy pop ups.
My friend Scott Ginsberg say you need Fans, not customers. A fan or two, a couple people that will take action is more valuable than 100 people that are totally indifferent to what you offer.
