Heidi HO! Welcome. Thanks for coming. You might want to grab myRSS feed. I also welcome calls at 614-312-1941 about just about anything.

Look, I dig the tiny pcs that are all the rage right now.  Having a pocket computer to rock has its place, and it’s a good place.  You want to be able to hop on, do some work, and jump off quickly.  The tiny pc works for that, and Its a good tool.

But if you are online more than an hour or two a day, you GOTTA Go Big.   You need 2 monitors, with at least ONE being a 24″ widescreen.   The cost–at tiger direct–can be as low as $189 for a 24″ monitor, and so it costs NOTHING to make this work for you…and you’ll be able to filter out stuff you don’t want.

My workflow:  I have a 24″ imac with an auxillary 28″ monitor that I got from Tiger for $299.

I have Twitter and IM on my 28″ and I work on my 24″.  No real reason for that, but the speakers, I like the imacs speakers.   I turn the 28″ monitor off a lot, but I’m notified if someone IMs me.  I don’t alays know (or care) who it was, but I get my work done, then I check in with Twitter/Facebook.  Connect.

It’s so much faster this way.  So much better, and so much cooler.  I also use two browsers, and have Safari on my main monitor, and Firefox on my second monitor.  I like firefox a smidge better than safari, but I use safari mostly because it’s less busy and I’m less likely to say, start checking the page rank of sites because I don’t havee

Monitor 1:

  • Google Docs
  • iWork
  • iMovie
  • ScreenFlow
  • FinalCut
  • Daylite

Monitor 2:

  • Twitter
  • FB
  • Firefox
  • Numbers
  • Etc.

That’s the way I streamline work and can bring things in and out of how I want to do them.
